As far as probability goes, we are the luckiest creatures in the universe, with the extraordinary gift of realising so. 

Earth stands out as a beacon of life in a seemingly lifeless universe, a cosmic anomaly.

Of trillions of other planets and galaxies, Earth appears to be the only one with just the right recipe for life. 

Everything from forming at the right time in cosmic history, to the right location in the right galaxy, with the perfect distance from a stable star, a protective magnetic field, plate tectonics, a large stabilizing moon, and the presence of water, has made Earth uniquely suited for life. 

It's an astonishingly rare combination, and that’s before you even begin to factor in the unfathomable steps and luck that lead to the formation of the complex life we see on Earth today.
